Factory replacement visors from the big helmet brands are expensive, and photochromic versions can cost over $200. Aftermarket visors do the same job for a fraction of the price. Here's what to know before you buy.
What you get with a quality aftermarket visor
- Lower price. Most of our visors are $45–55, including photochromic ones.
- More choice. Mirrored, colored, and photochromic options that the factory often doesn't offer for your model.
- Same mounting. A properly made visor uses your helmet's factory visor mechanism, with no modifications.
What to look for
- Exact fitment. The visor should be made for your specific helmet or shield type, not "universal".
- Coatings. Look for anti-UV and anti-scratch treatment.
- Anti-fog options. Pins for an anti-fog film, or a matching film you can add.
- Clear tint information. The seller should tell you which finishes are suitable for night (high VLT) and which are daytime only.
- A fitment guarantee. If it doesn't fit, you should be covered.
What you give up
Be honest with yourself about what matters to you. Factory visors carry the helmet brand's own certification and warranty, and some riders want to stay fully original. If that's important to you, buy OEM. For most riders who want a different look, a photochromic visor, or a spare without paying full price, a well-made aftermarket visor is the smarter buy.
